Terrible service We were there trying to enjoy my friends birthday, and the waiter was super rude. The place is nice, the food was good, but the waiter was super racist.

Very nice restaurant for a date, brunch or lunch with the girls. Food and drinks are reasonable priced and pretty tasty. Very very nice view. Restaurant is airy and bright. They have a DJ on Saturday and the music is good.

Delicious and fresh. Very nice dinner out. Well done, The Porch. Easy to get a table earlier than later. Fast and attentive service. Will go back. Several special occasions spent here over the past couple of years. She crab one of the best around. Crab cakes full of meat. The southern risotto was amazing. Pic included. Fresh sushi tuna rolls you’d just as well find in Okinawa. Shrimp and clam linguine was plentiful bowl full of both. Shrimp were grilled perfectly separate from pasta and clams. Perfectly prepared with al dente pasta. Flounder BLT bigger than your head. It’s All really good. Deserts were triple chocolate cheesecake and pistachio cake. The later better than the former. Both decadent and delicious. Beers cold. Full white wine by the glass. Nice house Pinot Grigio. Can’t go wrong. Explore. Enjoy. It’s fun and atmosphere is 5 star. Water scene is pleasant. Outdoor seating is a nice extra. Ate inside, pleasant and quick. Patio looked a bit more full around 5:30. Ate at 4 on a Saturday night. No wait. Griffin was server and couldn’t have asked for better.

⭐️0/5 — A deeply disappointing and disrespectful experience We were a group of successful Latina businesswomen celebrating a birthday, excited to enjoy a night out at The Porch in Virginia Beach. Unfortunately, what should have been a joyful evening quickly turned into a painful and humiliating experience due to the staff’s condescending and dismissive behavior. From the beginning, we were treated as if we were beneath them—spoken to with passive-aggressive tones, ignored when asking questions about the menu or drinks, and overall made to feel unwelcome. The waiter, in particular, repeatedly cut us off when we inquired about ingredients or substitutions, as if we were bothering him for simply wanting to understand what we were ordering. I personally ordered the flounder, which was supposed to come with roasted tomatoes, artichokes, seasonal vegetables, lemon caper beurre blanc, and mashed potatoes. I kindly asked to substitute the mashed potatoes for fries. What I received was an overcooked, dry, and overly salty piece of fish served with just two dried-out asparagus spears—no vegetables, no beurre blanc sauce, and certainly not what was described on the menu. It was nearly inedible. The most painful part of the night wasn’t the bad food—it was the clear undertone of prejudice. We were stereotyped, dismissed, and looked down upon in a way that was subtle but unmistakably rooted in bias. It was passive-aggressive racism at its finest. Paying a $927 bill to be disrespected and belittled was heartbreaking. Beautiful location, absolutely terrible service. We will not be returning—and we sincerely hope this review prompts management to reevaluate how they treat guests. Thank you Barney the waiter for ruining our experience.

⭐ 1 Star – Thanks for the trauma, Barney If I could leave zero stars, I would — but sadly, Google doesn’t accept emotional damage as a valid rating. My friends and I came in excited for a good birthday meal. What we got instead was a crash course in bad service, starring our waiter Barney. And no, not the lovable purple dinosaur — this Barney was more like the villain in a low-budget comedy. Every time he walked by, his belly collided with my hair bun like it was trying to connect to Bluetooth. I tried asking a simple menu question and he shut me down like I was interrupting his TED Talk. Rude? Yes. Passive-aggressive? Absolutely. Discriminatory vibes? 100%. I left hungry, disrespected, and with a mild concussion . Next time I want to be ignored and physically bumped repeatedly , I’ll just ride the subway during rush hour.

On June 9, my party of 14 were accommodated to celebrate my birthday even though they don’t accept parties of more than 10 people. The restaurant assigned Barney as the waiter he created the worst experience in dining at this place after being highly recommended. Barney tossed the food, drinks and silverware at the table. Asked us to shut up, told my friend that she was ordering too much food, he pushed us towards the table whenever he brought items to the table. Barney was extremely rude and disrespectful throughout the night. After paying the check of almost 1 thousand dollars with a 20% tip already added, while I was opening my presents, Barney told a us we were the worse and most difficult table and people he has ever served; then looked at me and told me happy birthday honey. I do not recommend this place not only because of the discrimination, harassment and mistreatment, the food was atrocious. Do not go to this place for 5 different people from my party got sick from eating at this place. I plan on never coming back here and highly advise you to not visit this restaurant.
